The League of Cities and Towns

Last night, the plans for the Marana booth finally came into fruition as Amanda and I set up our road-trip themed posters and giveaways in our designated section at The League of Arizona Cities and Towns. The whole idea of the booth was to bring the visitor to the town of Marana and make them feel like they're actually in our town. We did this by using road signs, maps, a working traffic light, and photos of the Marana area. Here is the finished product:

The poster boards focus on the 5 strategic focuses of the Marana Strategic Plan; Commerce, Progress and Innovation, Community Development, Recreation, and Heritage.

For our giveaways, we handed out two types of key chains; a multi-use flashlight/compass/whistle, and a tire guage. Both were extremely popular, and  our whole stash was nearly gone within an hour. Both had "Town of Marana" printed on them, and were in town colors.

We also handed out Marana coffee mugs with candy inside, Marana pens and notepads, hiking maps, and a personal favorite: postcards.

The postcards were made by us, printed on card stock and designed by our graphic designer, Kelsie Hanson. We had a larger-sized printout of the post card on the back wall of the booth, which served as our  banner.

Overall the event was very fun. I had a chance to explore the booths and see what towns were present. Nogales handed out Mexican candy and confetti, Cave Creek gave out bags of coffee grounds, and Willcox gave out homegrown tomatos. A TON of people came by our booth. It was fun getting to meet everyone, and see familiar faces from the AMCA event last month.
